In three weeks’ time we set out on our cycle journey down the Pacific Coast Highway. Today I reached 1,000 training miles on this beautiful sunny blue-sky day. Setting up the ride has been quite a logistical enterprise. Over the Christmas break we booked five Air BnBs every day of our ten-day break. Never before has a washer-drier featured in our list of accommodation priorities but we gather the Pacific Northwest can be very wet in spring 🙂
Thank you to many people for their support and encouragement: Philip for wanting to come on a long ride with me. Jenny for our second Land’s End to John o’ Groats expedition, without which I’d be doubting my ability to do this. Helen for supporting our plans to do something wild. Cathy for jumping at the opportunity to come with us. My archivist colleague Helen for holding the fort at work. My brother Steve for overseeing our Mum’s care for the eight weeks. Tessa and Maurice for our Pacific-Coast-Highway-in-a-tin Christmas present. Claire and John for the PCH survival kit. And to so many of you for your encouragement, belief in us and cheering us on.
